For those of you confused by the title of this post, let me explain: I signed up for the A to Z Blogging Challenge so, during the month of April, I will be posting daily (except Sundays) on topics from A to Z. Today I will kick things off with the introduction to one of the point of view characters in my Anniversary of the Veil Series, Keeper Alet.

Alet comes from the other side of the Veil that separates the world of the Anniversary of the Veil Series in two and is a member of the police/military force called the Keepers of the Veil. She and two other Keepers have been given the task of crossing the Veil and locating Alet’s estranged niece, Princess Issiyanna, who is needed for a magical reaction, which will strengthen the Veil for another 1000 years.

Alet’s struggle in the series is between choosing love of family over her duty as a soldier. It is a tough choice to make. Alet’s sense of duty will be tested profoundly during the course of the story, especially after she meets and gets to know her niece.

It is not so hard to obey orders when one is not emotionally involved, but when one is, such things become increasingly difficult. Even when the fate of the entire world depends on making the hard choice. And Alet will go through the entire cycle of her dilemma before the story is concluded.

Now you must also be wondering who Arlee is. Arlee Bird at Tossing It Out is the founder of the A-Z Blogging challenge. I want to use this first post of the challenge to thank him for this wonderful opportunity to broaden my blogging horizons and get back into the habit of daily writing.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you come back tomorrow for the letter B.

In the meantime, you might also want to check out Chapter 1 of Protector, which introduces Keeper Alet and her plight:
